on November 6, 2012Actually, this Worm snake is a Midwest (Carphophis amoenus helenae). It is rather bicolored, but westerns are usually quite blackish on top and evenmore sharply bicolored. In Illinois, westerns are only known to occur in several counties in western Illinois, not in the southern part of the state.
